Day 6 of 7 of our Get Healthier Campaign

Breakfast- Beetroot, Carrot and Ginger Juice

Two days left of our one week to healthier eating campaign. We hope you have been enjoying some insight into what we eat each day and trying out a few new things?

Monday morning's are always the hardest waking up early for me, more so when it's so dark and cold but we start the week off with our 6:30 training class so no excuses. Thank goodness we have clients arriving otherwise I could easily have gone back to bed this morning.

Sessions done now and despite the pain of early morning wake ups, it's great to have exercise done by 8am for the day. Plus, it helps wake me up and get me ready for the rest of the morning. We finished off the exercise with a great energising juice for breakfast with heaps of ginger in to give that extra zing and help keep the immune system fit and fighting.

Beetroot, Carrot and Ginger Juice

Ingredients
  • One large raw beetroot (ideally organic)
  • 10 large carrots (ideally organic)
  • One piece of ginger (size of index finger)

Optional:
Add apple for a sweeter taste

Directions:
Put all your carrots in your juicer first. Then juice the beetroot and finally the ginger last!

Quick tips:
1. Remove the carrot pulp from the juicer's waste container before you start juicing the beetroot and ginger and use the pulp to make carrot muffins or cake.
2. Place a plastic bag into the waste section of your juicer to catch the pulp and save you having to wash the juicer's waste container every time you juice.
3. As you get more adventurous you can add slightly more ginger to your juicer to give it that extra bite!

Benefits of ginger:

With winter coming up it's a good idea to add ginger into your cooking. It help improve the absorption and assimilation of essential nutrients in the body and is also a great anti-inflammatory. Ginger is also a great one if you are feeling nauseous- chew on a piece of ginger and it helps calm the stomach. Finally, a little bit of ginger and some honey tea  is great to help get rid of throat and nose congestion.

We would love to hear your feedback so let us know if you try this what you think in the comments below.
